  11. Do you have time for me - I usually work on PCs.  But I'm
  12. trying to help an Amiga user with his printing etc problems.
  13. He has an A1000 (upgraded from 500), a new Canon BJC-70 printer
  14. and runs Mini-Office(1992).
  15. When he first bought the printer, it printed text OK in black,
  16. from the word processor.  but he wanted colours and graphics too.
  17. So Canon sent him an Amiga driver.  Since he tried to install this,
  18. everything has gone wrong.
  19. There are supposedly 3 modes in which the driver can be installed -
  20. they're called something like novice, intermediate and custom.  The
  21. novice mode won't let us click on it, so we've tried both of the
  22. others.  But the driver won't load properly; we get error messages,
  23. the most frequent is "Your software is out of date. You need kickstart2.04"
  24. or words to that effect.
  25. We've tried setting the printer to different emulations, usually
  26. Epson LQ2550.
  27. The printer doesn't print at all now (except for self-test, which is OK).
  28. Worse still, once he's tried to load the driver, he can't load Mini-Office -
  29. "memory errors" are reported.  (He never had any memory problems before.)
  30. If he starts up and doesn't load the driver, he can load the word
  31. processor and open a file.  But as soon as he tries to print it (-
  32. which he used to be able to do-) he gets error messages (I/O error or
  33. memory error).
  34. So although he could once print without the driver, he can't print at
  35. all now.
  36. He's desperate.  Any suggestions?  It would help us a lot if you could
  37. email me cfriend@innotts.co.uk; as I said, I'm usually a PC person and
  38. don't usually hang around here (please forgive me!).
